Midfielder Halimat Ayinde made up for her several misses with the match winner in the 47th minute.
The African champions dominated play, created the better chances with the veteran Rita Chikwelu dictating things in the midfield.
Nigeria will play their final group game against fellow Africans Equatorial Guinea on Tuesday morning.
